Trapland Pat: Trapnificent
Trapland Pat is a first-generation Haitian American from Deerfield Beach, Florida who has been one of the latest from the powerhouse state, to impact the culture. Being one of the first members of his family to be born in the U.S., Pat described feeling a personal responsibility to put on for himself and his loved ones through the opportunities available here. He began playing football at a young age while also beginning to rap at the age of thirteen. Pat would go on to receive a football scholarship to Indiana State University which he attended following his graduation from Deerfield Beach High School. Eventually, he left football behind and decided to focus on his music career, exploding to the top of an already flaming hot Florida music scene. On February 16, 2022, Trapland Pat signed with Fredo Bang and partnered with Alamo Records, before dropping his most recent album, Trapnificent, on June 9th of this year.
The album begins with Trapland Pat coming out strong on a freestyle, “On The Radar (Freestyle)”, where he shows his ability and the inner-workings of his artistry right off the bat. He continues this flow with “Mad” while still remaining humble and true to his and his family’s past with bars like: “You ain’t running up shit run them racks up, every boss gon’ take a loss pick the slack up”. He then goes on to display his frequently discussed versatility with “4 & A Baby”, a complete vibe, before his first song with Fredo Bang “Astronaut Status” where the two blend together creating a great sound, over a tough beat. This collaboration is not the only one on the album with others coming from hot artists such as Eli Fross on “Hellcat”, BIG30 on “D.O.A.”, Mozzy on “Active” and Fredo again on “Love & Heartbreaks”. All of these features fit Trapland Pat and his style perfectly, further displaying Pat’s versatility, one of the biggest aspects of his music he prides himself on. Our top three from the album are: “Losses”, “D.O.A.” and “Trap Dance” where Pat simply continues his tradition of creating good, authentic music. In the interview, Pat told us about his personal favorite song “Stranded” which gives listeners an inside look into what makes Pat tick and comes as a close fourth in our personal rankings. He closes out the album out by bringing listeners back down to Earth with the track “Routes” where Pat vibes on the beat while still reminding listeners of who he is and how much he has left and wants to accomplish before fading out to conclude.
